MV Ocean Rover Liveaboard
General:
The MV Ocean Rover is a 30-meter (100ft) triple-engine
steel hull motor boat. She operates in the Andaman Sea (Thailand
and Burma) for 6-months every year during the high-season; during
the low season she sails south to dive the east coast islands
of Peninsular Malaysia.
She was built in Phuket in the year 2000, specifically
to serve the needs of the conscientious diver, and meets many
international safety standards. She comfortably holds 16 guests.
Destination:
MV Ocean Rover offers trips all year round.
During the low season 2006 you can choose from
8-day/9-night or 9-day /10-night trips to North Sulawesi in
Indonesia, offering experience of the far-eastern reaches of
the Celebes Sea.
At the end of the low season 2006 MV Ocean
Rover is offering two 8-day/9-night trips to the east coast
islands of Peninsular Malaysia, a very beautiful part of the
South China Sea with wonderful scenery both above and below
the surface.
During the high season 2006 you can choose
from 8-day/9-night, 9/10, 10/11, 11/12 and 12-day/13-night trips
in Thailand and Burma, which means plenty of time to explore

Burma's Mergui Archipelago have to offer.
At the beginning and end of the high season
there are also a 7-day/8-night and a 9-day/10-night trip available
to explore the dive sites of Southern Thailand, from Phuket
and Phi Phi Islands down to Koh Rok Nok taking in the world
class Hin Daeng and Hin Muang.
January to March 2007 offers three trips to
the Andaman Islands, of 9-days/10-nights, or 12-days/13-nights
duration; for those wishing to go somewhere really remote and
unexplored this is a perfect opportunity.
Trips in Thailand and Burma depart from Chalong
Bay in Phuket. Trips in Malaysia depart from Teluk Chempadak
in Kuantan. Trips in Indonesia depart from Bituang Port in Lembeh
Strait. Trips in the Andaman Islands depart from Port Blair.

The Interior:
The spacious saloon offers a comfortable dining
and sitting arrangement, fully equipped entertainment centre
and a camera charging area with 220/110 volts connections. The
interior has been kept light and airy and has a relaxed atmosphere.
The saloon has a refreshments corner and an extensive marine
life library. There is a 42” flat screen TV / DVD entertainment
centre and also a computer available for digital photographers
and for emails.
The upper deck, or sun deck, is partly shaded
and is everyone's favourite area for relaxing and socializing
between dives. A second refreshments corner is located here
and passengers can sit around the large picnic style table or
settle down on one of the comfortable lounge chairs.
The dive deck:
MV Ocean Rover has three silent Bauer Mariner
II compressors, and a membrane system for 32% Nitrox, so tanks
are re-filled rapidly and quietly. Once the equipment has been
put together on the first day, one can relax for the entire
trip as the tanks will be refilled again and again by the friendly
staff onboard. The huge dive-deck has several camera tables
and rinse tanks plus a camera maintenance room. Care has been
taken to ensure that photographers have safe places to put down
their expensive cameras just before and after dives.
Ocean Rover's unique feature is the "whale-deck"
the lower section of the dive-deck which slopes down to the
waterline allowing for optimum ease of diving operations. This
whale-deck is where the dinghies are stored when the vessel
is underway.

Diving courses onboard:
Diving courses are not promoted onboard MV
Ocean Rover, instead priority goes toward providing a luxury
liveaboard cruise experience, but the staff are always able
to arrange anything if it is specifically required.
Food & drinks:
The cook onboard can cook everything from Thai to western main
meal dishes. Fresh seasonal fruits and snacks are also served
every day.
Thai and western main dishes and continental breakfast.
Buffet-style service in the lounge area.
All dietary requirements can be catered for - please
send us your requirements.
Light meal is also provided on the first evening
of the cruise after departure.
Soft drinks, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, water,
snacks and biscuits are provided free of charge.
Ice maker and espresso coffee machine.
Beer (US$ 2) and wine (US$ 15-30) are available.
The dive crew:
The highly experienced staff onboard are all
professional multilingual PADI Divemasters & Instructors.
Most of the crew onboard have been with MV Ocean Rover from
the beginning and have put their input into the design and construction
of the boat, thus giving a sense of commitment and belonging
to the boat and the cruise. We recommend that you dive with
one of the onboard dive staff, since they know all the points
of interest, and how to navigate the dive sites to ensure the
best dive profile. There is always a dive guide available for
you, but if you are an experienced diver and just want to have
a dive site briefing, then you and your buddy can go on your
own, but you will of course have to follow some simple diving
rules and instructions given by the dive staff to ensure your
safety.
Hans Tibboel, Dutch (NL) Cruise Director & PADI

The boat crew:
The boat crew onboard is experienced and very
helpful, they speak a little English, certainly enough to understand
when things are serious or when it's time for jokes, and you
don't have to ask for help, they know exactly when it's needed.
Note:
We can not take responsibility for schedule
or itinerary changes due to natural disasters, political situations,
changing weather or other events beyond our control. As a non-diver
it's compulsory that you hold or purchase a travel insurance
, which should cover emergency evacuation coverage
anywhere in the world, As a scuba diver, then it's compulsory
that you have a DAN, Diveassure or
other diving accident insurance with emergency
evacuation coverage and up to date. Please check this in case
of an unexpected evacuation or other treatment that may not
be covered by you regular insurance.
